Education
Dr. Kalie Leone earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Bioethics from the University of Virginia. She then pursued her Doctor of Optometry degree at The Ohio State University College of Optometry. During this time, she completed valuable externships at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Salisbury, NC and a private practice in Athens, GA. She then went on to complete a residency in Ocular Disease at the top-ranked Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.
Professional
Dr. Leone is board-certified by the American Board of Optometry and is a candidate for fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry. She is active in her local chapter of the North Carolina Optometric Society and pursues volunteer work with Prevent Blindness North Carolina. She has been published in Review of Optometry magazine and has presented at national conferences in Boston and Ft. Lauderdale. She was the first optometrist in the Greater Charlotte area to become certified to perform treatments on RxSight’s Light Adjustable Lens.
Special Interest
Dr. Leone specializes in comprehensive eye exams for adults and children ages 14 and older. She offers eye exams in both English and Spanish. Dr. Leone is experienced in managing patients with ocular diseases, including diabetes and glaucoma. She has extensive training in ophthalmic co-management and providing post-operative care to patients after eye surgery. She is passionate about medical eye care and has a special interest in emergency eye care.
Personal
Dr. Leone is originally from Chesapeake, VA. When Ohio was too cold and Miami was too hot, she decided to try Charlotte and has since fallen in love with this city. She enjoys traveling, reading, and exploring new restaurants. She resides in the South End neighborhood with her fiancé and their golden-lab retriever.
