Light Adjustable Lens

Metrolina Eye Associates are proud to be the first practice in the greater Charlotte area to offer patients the benefits of the Light Adjustable Lens. Thanks to his revolutionary lens technology, our patients can now work directly with ours surgeons to customize their vision… AFTER their actual lens replacement procedure has been performed!

The Light Adjustable Lens is made of a special photosensitive material that can be adjusted – or optimized – in response to Ultraviolet light. This adjustment takes only a few moments and is performed in the office in the weeks following lens implantation. These adjustments are precisely administered in microscopic increments to correct depth of focus and Astigmatism to dial in a precise visual outcome.

This is the first time in medical history where cataract patients now have the unique ability to ADJUST & PREVIEW their vision until it meets their personal needs and lifestyle requirements. Once a patient is fully satisfied with their custom vision, it can be permanently locked in.

Our new Light Adjustable Lens is the perfect alternative for middle-aged patients considering LASIK to reduce or eliminate their need for reading glasses or bifocals. It’s also ideal for patients 60+ who are experiencing changes in the lenses of their eyes due to natural aging and cataract development. The Light Adjustable Lens is also becoming the lens of choice for patients undergoing cataract surgery who have previously had refractive surgery procedures like RK or LASIK.

Currently, patients who are not receiving an LAL lens cannot ‘trial’ their vision to determine how well they will see under various light conditions, work environments or conducting their normal daily activities. Until now, patients undergoing lens replacement procedures like Refractive Lens Exchange or cataract surgery were given off-the-shelf intraocular lenses (IOL) based on pre-operative measurements and predictions.

This ‘first-ever’ opportunity allows patients to ‘test-drive’ their vision for accuracy until they are fully satisfied with their result. To learn more about the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens, please contact our main office at 800-628-EYES.
