Matthew B. Carpenter, OD
Education
Dr. Matthew Carpenter received his Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Medicine from Appalachian State University. He went on to attend the Southern College of Optometry, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree. During his training, he completed an externship at Womack Army Hospital at Fort Bragg and graduated with multiple academic honors, including induction into the prestigious Beta Sigma Kappa honor society.
Professional
Following his graduation in 1985, Dr. Carpenter established his optometry practice in Charlotte, where he has proudly served the community for the past 40 years. Throughout his career, he has built a strong reputation for delivering compassionate, personalized eye care under the Carpenter name. He remains passionate about the personal connections he has built with his patients and values the opportunity to care for generations of families within the community.
Special Interests
Dr. Carpenter is especially interested in fostering long-term patient relationships and ensuring a personalized approach to eye health. He takes pride in combining clinical expertise with genuine care to create a welcoming experience for every patient who visits his practice. At Metrolina Eye Associates, Dr. Carpenter offers primary eye care services including vision testing, contact lens fitting, eyewear prescriptions, pre and post-operative eye care and the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders.
Personal
Outside the office, Dr. Carpenter enjoys an active lifestyle that includes golf, hiking, biking, and spending time outdoors. A lifelong Charlotte resident, Dr. Carpenter’s love for the Charlotte area and its’ community is reflected both in his professional dedication and in how he chooses to spend his free time.
