What Is Genius?
Genius RF microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that combines two proven approaches in a single session: microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy.
Traditional microneedling creates tiny channels in the skin to trigger the body's natural healing response. Genius takes that a step further. Its insulated microneedles travel deeper into the dermis and deliver controlled radiofrequency energy in the form of brief, targeted heat. That heat creates micro-coagulation zones, which are tiny, precise areas of thermal injury that prompt your body to produce new collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for skin's firmness and resilience.
The result is a gradual improvement in skin texture and tightness that comes from your own tissue. Because the energy is delivered below the surface rather than removing the top layer of skin, Genius is safe for all skin types and can be performed year-round.
Genius is commonly used on the face and neck, and it can also treat areas of the body where skin has lost firmness. Patients often seek it out for fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and mild to moderate skin laxity.

During treatment, a handpiece fitted with ultra-fine, insulated needles is placed against the skin. The needles insert to a precise depth, then release radiofrequency energy directly into the dermis. Because the needles are insulated along their length, the energy is concentrated exactly deep in the tissue rather than heating the surface of your skin.
What sets the Genius system apart is a technology called Intelligent Energy Delivery. The device monitors the electrical resistance of your tissue in real time and adjusts its energy output up to 500 times per second.

Genius measures what is actually happening beneath the surface and responds accordingly.
For you, that means more consistent treatment across the entire area. The system also displays the total energy delivered, which allows your provider to document each session and plan your next one with precision.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Genius RF Microneedling?
Genius is well tolerated by a wide range of patients, but a consultation is the only way to know whether it is right for you. You may be a good candidate for Genius RF microneedling if:
- You are bothered by fine lines, wrinkles, or crepey skin on the face or neck
- You have acne scarring or uneven skin texture you would like to improve
- You are noticing mild to moderate skin laxity but are not ready for surgery
- You want a treatment that works for your skin tone, including deeper complexions
- You are not pregnant or nursing
- You do not have an active skin infection or breakout in the treatment area
- You do not have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device
- You do not have any conditions that affect wound healing.
- You have realistic expectations and understand that results build gradually
Certain medications can also affect your candidacy. Your provider will review your medical history, discuss your appearance goals, and examine your skin before recommending a plan. If Genius is a good fit, they will recommend a treatment depth, energy setting, and number of sessions tailored to you.

What to Expect During Your Genius Treatment
On the day of your appointment, a topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area about an hour before your session begins, so plan for that extra hour in your schedule. The treatment itself typically takes 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Most patients describe the sensation as warmth and pressure. Patients who have had ablative laser treatments in the past often find Genius considerably more tolerable by comparison.
Afterward, expect redness and some swelling, similar to a moderate sunburn. This subsides substantially within 24 to 36 hours, and most patients are comfortable returning to their normal routine within about 48 hours. Complete resolution can take up to a week. You will be given aftercare instructions that include gentle cleansing, diligent sun protection, and a short pause on active skincare ingredients and strenuous exercise.
Most patients see visible improvement after a single session, but a series of three to four treatments spaced several weeks apart produces the most complete results.
How Long Do Genius Results Last?
You may notice a subtle tightening within a day or two of your first session, but the big changes take longer. Collagen and elastin continue rebuilding for months after treatment, so your skin should keep improving over roughly six months following your final session.
Because those results come from your own collagen rather than from a product that is metabolized and cleared, Genius results tend to be durable. Many patients enjoy their results for years. Your skin continues to age, so some patients choose an annual maintenance session to stay ahead of new changes. How long your individual results last depends on your age, skin condition, sun exposure, overall health, and how consistently you protect and care for your skin afterward.
